1. This Is A Hanging Dropped a bomb on the east-side Call me butterfingers And I won't say you're wrong Rhumbaed out of the rubble Signed the surrender Now I'm singing this song For once I'm on the level And I'm doing something noble Weasel out of this Annihilation will be total And I'm right for the first time In my life If you don't mind I'm bringing out the dead Mastermind making speeches Gets down off his soapbox Now there's nothing to do My reputation precedes me Rides a Sherman tank Waving red, black and blue Put Hitler on the funny pages Next to Li'l Abner Things were running swell 'Till someone offered me a hammer Now I'm down on my knees and I'm fitting the pieces And bringing out the dead We're standing on burning rooftops We're hanging from barren trees A hundred raging housewives howling Like a thousand hell-bound fiends The wind and rain Set you down I will wade into this river Waiting there I'll find your name The years go by I stumble after With all of the plans I've made To rake the coals in Heaven Where's the rest of this story? Advice to the lovelorn Cat's had kittens--again I fell outta that window The doctor's laying bets He's afraid I may live Make sure your accusations All are in the proper manner You're barking up the wrong tree After all, this is a hanging I'm the judge and the jury And the verdict is guilty I'm bringing out the dead

2. Everything Must Go I eyes the bone Swallows the stone man's got no home Not in this world Not in this world Empires fall Auctioneers call It's all wheeled out the door Little Lord Silence Lies stretched on the floor Raise his glass Here is what to say: A lease on life Now leave it behind Sell what's left One room at a time It's all I know Everything must go Someone to blame Pills for the pain Won't stop this rain Not in this world Not in this world Here's a life: Tables and butter knives Carted away Little Lord Silence Awake in the hay As it burns Here is what he'll say: Across these fields Going is so small With promises Never made at all Sleep beside the road Everything must go

3. God With A Neck Now is better Safe than never How I do love news from my home Heavy weather Writes my letters From nowhere on earth Is the best I can do Now all I want is to cross this water See how far I duck beneath these waves This Wellsville boy burned Everything he owns Wonders how he'll fill a foreigner's grave Tot up my losses tease out the lies make my amends pretending to cry Lock up the doors And turn out the lights God with a neck to throttle him by Sister Han look for me home tell me I'm anything Like that tow-headed boy I am tired now I am disheartened I once had a home a tale I could tell

Dominoes Do 04:33
5. Dominoes Do Champagne magnum Landed on my head Three angry bouncers said You're good as dead The chandeliers began to sway So they just broke my nose Oh, down we go Like dominoes do The gas mains torched a Goya I admired Through my fingers I could see A mule on fire Caruso saved his wardrobe From the flames He sat down on his bags And wept Oh, down we go Like dominoes do If you're the skyline Forever wishing me away Am I just one more Ticky-tack box Slipping down the hills Until the fog rolls in And drowns us all In the soup line stretched 'Round Union Square Mary's headless martyrs I have seen you there My western queen Nailed to a shaky throne Your servant still remembers you 'Till down I go Like dominoes do

6. The Slow Leak Sun gone down Now can I get some sleep? Rest a stone Nearer my God to thee Stilled my song I won't say anything Woe is me Say it's not hatred The word's too strong The slow leak That's building Our ship sails on Be my heart Mine is freezing Falls apart I keep breathing I! Second violin Seas rose 'round our ankles Can't imagine why we stayed I jumped astern and swam with all I had The band played ragtime tunes First notes of a hymn I heard And they were swept away Lifeboats drifted to me like a psalm Stony grief Something to throw at me Joyful wing From now my song shall be By thy side Nothing you'd want to sing Thee I fly It don't mean anything Say it's not hatred The word's too strong The last boat is leaving The band plays on

7. With Magnificent Plans Wish I'd washed up somewheres warmer than I'll ever be This hope of "what's best for me" Plan for the worst As I'm gasping my last? In between's not this wicker chair weak winter's sunlight Old women sweeping the grounds It sounds faraway Like the bells But the cuckoo 's bill washed in red Washed in red for me If you'd just give me your money We'll waste it on things I won't need With all the time in the world There's none left for me You could try and look guilty Or promiFse me anything I'll tell you how this'll end Ten thousand feet off the ground The air going thin My lungs start boiling over Washed in red Washed in red for me My friends with magnificent plans This turn of the century Imagine there's no future at all A flowering stain Screwed tight in my handkerchief Washed in red Washed in red for me

8. How Small We Are, How Little We Know Days turn old Days that hold you When night falls And I am gone These things I will show you As you go This was my home I'm facing homeward Cannot see Where I am bound Don't cry It will not harm you Like before A thousand names As many faces I can recall My sons Brothers before you After all So never you mind The stars that showed you How small we are How little we know These things I will tell you As you go

about

PAPAGENO (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte). Baritone. A bird-catcher.  Tamino, chased by a snake, falls unconscious. Three Ladies kill the snake and leave to tell the Queen of Night what has happened. As Tamino awakes, Papageno appears, dressed as a bird, and claims he killed the serpent. The Three Ladies hear his lie and padlock his mouth.  He and Tamino go to rescue Pamina, Papageno having been given magic bells to protect him. Though frightened, Papageno rescues Pamina and takes her to meet Tamino. He also wards off the evil moor Monastatos and his followers by playing the bells and luring them away. He accompanies Tamino to his trials, but is unable to remain silent as ordered. Determined to find love for himself, he meets an old crone who, to his horror, declares herself to be his future bride. When he agrees to save her from incarceration by marrying her, she miraculously turns into the young and beautiful Papagena. Arias: Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja (‘I am the bird-catcher’);Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen (‘A maiden or a little wife’); duet (with Pamina): Bei männern (‘All men’). Created (1791) by Johann Emanuel Schikaneder (the opera's librettist. When the opera had its British première, this role was taken by Michael Balfe, the composer of The Bohemian Girl).

Nikola Tesla was obsessed with pigeons, ordering special seed for the birds he often fed in the park. There was one white pigeon, a female, that was very precious to him. One day the white pigeon became ill. Tesla did his best to nurse the bird back to health, but it died cradled in his hands. Tesla was not a particularly religious man, as he believed that there must be a scientific explanation for everything. But when the white pigeon died, he claimed to have witnessed a very bright light emanating from her eyes, so bright that he told his friends afterwards that not even he could have managed to create so luminous a light. It made him believe that the white pigeon must have been a messenger of a great spirit...

A machine for you to envision your dreams, the pictures and sounds in your head, exactly as if projected on a movie screen. That was the kind of machine Nikola Tesla hoped to create, or might have or possibly did. He allegedly never drew a blueprint for any of his inventions. He saw them in his mind already complete to the point he could turn them at different angles watching them work. It is said that his inventions were always perfect. Never were there miscalculations nor changes needed.
